Objective
My objective was to design my own logo and establish a brand identity. I wanted a bold and playful identity that still maintained some professional aspects.
Mood board
I love the 60s and 70s era of design that involved bright colors and funky shapes. I found that a warm toned color palette seemed to have the mood that I wanted. In general I wanted something funky-inspired.
Approach
Some later sketches that I explored began to get more abstract. I wanted to stray away from using a pre-made typeface for my logo and wanted to use something that was more illustration based.
I particularly liked the smooth image of the "i" and "r" connected. I also created a font (the fat ir) based on an old telephone that I really enjoyed.
Outcome
I developed the original 2D "ir", the line "ir", and the telephone font "ir". Playing around with blurs and line duplication, I began to narrow down which ones looked more professional and still maintained their playfulness.
Final Logo
I began playing with blurs to give that "funky" feel as well as the warm glow of the 60s/70s era. I then developed my original sketch of the "ir" and found it to me a little bland (and reminded me of LinkedIn's logo). Inspired by "funky" fonts, I duplicated my line drawing to get my final product.
Based on my color palette I narrowed down the designs to these three variations with the "ir" being the main logo and the backgrounds being interchangeable
