Task

My task was to redesign the Delta Boarding pass that was outdated and confusing for customers.

Challenge

The boarding pass needs to convey all the relevant information to the flying customer while maintaining a certain aesthetic as well as convey some information for airline workers.

Approach

My first step was creating a hierarchy of the most important elements on the ticket. Here's the original list of elements:

Here's how I prioritized these elements:

  1. Most important:

  2. destination

  3. Gate

  4. Group

  5. Seat

  6. Departure time

  7. boarding time

  8. Name

  9. Flight Number

  10. Date

  11. Information for airline workers

Working with a clean and clear font, I highlighted the destination. Next, I used a pop of color to highlight the gate, group, and seat number, which from my own experience is what I'm always looking for on my boarding pass. I kept a majority of what is considered useful by airline workers on the tear off tab and everything else for the customer on the main part of the ticket.
